What is Yoshinkan Aikido?Yoshinkan Aikido is a modern synthesis of ancient samurai fighting techniques, and a philosophy of peace, harmony, and self improvement. Yoshinkan Aikido is the only art today used by Tokyo Metropolitan Police as well as their Riot Police Force to date. While Aikido can be used effectively as self defense, the purpose of Aikido training is not to prepare fighters for combat, but to develop calmness, mental focus, physical health, and harmonious social relationships. Because Aikido techniques depend upon balance, precision and timing rather than speed or strength, it can be practiced by nearly everyone

What is Jujutsu?Like all martial arts Jujutsu was developed through necessity. The numerous domestic conflicts that characterized Japan's history up until the unification of the various warring factions under the military dictatorship of the Tokogawan shogonate. In 1603Jujutsu provided the perfect platform for the samurai warrior class "bushi" to develop the skills of warfare and perform them on the field of battle to the greater glory of their particular clan.
